매일매일 영어(#2) - 주장, 요구, 제안 + 동사원형

안녕하세요 매일매일 영어입니다.

 

오늘의 영어는 주장, 요구, 제안 + 동사원형 입니다.

 

이는 어학시험이나 일상에서 자주 실수를 하는 문법입니다.

주장하다	insist / urge	that	주어 + (should) 동사원형	that 절이 '해야한다'로 해석되는지 확인한다.
요구하다	require / request / ask
명령하다	order
제안하다	suggest / recommend
중요한	important / essential / imperative

주장, 요구, 제안 등의 동사/형용사/명사 뒤에는 '~해야 한다'라는 의미의 조동사 should가 나오는것이 자연스럽습니다.

 

하지만,  should는 대부분은 생략됩니다. 따라서, that절에는 '주어 + 동사원형'이 나오게됩니다.

 

조동사 뒤에는 동사원형이 와야합니다.(have to, should, must + 동사원형)

 

should를 인지하면 해석하기가 수월합니다.

 

예를 들어서,

 

It is suggested that the company inspect its facility regularly. 

It is suggested that the company should inspect its facility regularly. 

그 회사는 시설을 정기적으로 점검해야 한다. 

 

 

She requests that he clean up his room.

She requests that he should clean up his room.

그녀는 그가 그의 방을 청소하라고(해야한다고) 요청한다.

 

 

I wanted to eat chicken but my doctor insisted that I eat soup. 

I wanted to eat chicken but my doctor insisted that I should eat soup.

나는 치킨을 먹고 싶었지만, 주치의는 내가 죽을 먹어야한다고 했다.

Tom recommends that Sally who travel for business should minimize the amount of luggage she carry

톰은 비즈니스여행을 가는 셀리에게 들고가는 짐의 양을 최소화해야한다고 했다. 

 

 

※결국, 주장, 제안, 요구의 that절은 주어 + (should) 동사원형을 기억하시면 됩니다.
